Landlord trying to extract money for vacating the shop Landlord trying to extract money for vacating the shop

Landlord handed over the shop key on Dec 15th & demanded the rent from that day & it took more than a month for interior setup, business operated on 18th Feb. After running the business for 3 months without much revenue to manage i decided to quit in May18 & informed landlord in advance as notice period. June month shop completely closed & i paid the rent without any income & informed landlord that by month end i will vacate the shop & handover. But landlord says he will not return the deposit till he find new tenant. I believe thats not correct. Pls advice.

A.If you have the rental/lease agreement in place then you may vacate the premise as per the exit clause in the agreement and if land lard is in breach of agreement you may go to court to claim your money and compensation for harassment.

A.If such thing i.e what the landlord is stating to you is not drafted in the rental contract then he is liable to payback the deposit as soon as you vacate the property. send him a legal notice.
