Non Payment of refundable Security deposit Non Payment of refundable Security deposit

My name is Abhinav Shukla a 20 year old student from Vadodara, Gujarat.

I am writing this to seek your guidance in a matter related to payment of SECURITY DEPOSIT from my former landlord.

I am in 3 rd year of my collage and as a result I was living in a rented house with 2 other boys. I found out about that house from Olx,one of the boys had posted an ad.

I paid 5000 as Security deposit which was fully refundable as when I leave.

On 5-6 June I left house because the owner told me to vacate. The eviction was without notice.

Upon leaving I asked the owner to pay me the amount of security deposit, but he said Thode time me mil jayega and I believed and shifted to other house.

Now even after 4 months from the day of leaving the house he didn't pay me the deposit amount. I suspected that He is in no mood of paying me back. However I texted him and asked him to pay the amount.

Initially he told me that the majority of my deposit amount will be deducted as plumbing charges and cleaning charges.I objected, later he told me that My rent payment of May was due.

Thankfully I had screenshots of all the rent payment I had done. I confronted him but he is not ready to admit that he received rent of May.

I was informed by one of my roommates who used to live in that house the He doesn't really have a good reputation when it comes to payment security deposit.

I don't think filling a police complaint will help as they don't take these matters seriously and the owner lives in Delhi.
He is not answering my texts and phone calls.

I am a student I cannot afford professional help.I kindly request you to guide me in this matter and I'll be forever in your debt.

A.Dear Sir,
As a prudent person you should not returned and handed over the vacant possession of the premises. If you have documents to evidence that you have paid advance amount then you can approach the Police or directly approach the landlord for refund of your amount.

A.Dear Client,
If you possess a copy of the rent agreement that provides the condition of a refundable security deposit, if that condition is violated by the land owner you may serve a legal notice to the land owner and bring the matter to the notice of the Rent Controller concerned for the redressal or your grievance.
