I have taken a lease home in the year 2022 feb and the lease duration wass for 3 years, due to some reason we requested the owner that we will vacate in the month of August and they asked to serve 3 months notice and search home . they also confirmed they will pay back the lease amount after vacate the premises. but did not, its been a week now. now we have shifted to new small rented home due to non payment of deposit amount. can i go ahead and do one more agreement with new owner , when the old one is still under process for refund of deposit.

Check the terms of your lease agreement with the previous landlord to understand the conditions for serving notice and the refund of the deposit. Communicate with your previous landlord about the delay in receiving the deposit refund. Politely request information on the status and expected timeline for the refund. Keep a record of all communication with the previous landlord regarding the deposit refund. This may include emails, messages, or any written communication. Be aware of local tenancy laws that may specify the time frame within which landlords must return the security deposit after the end of the lease. Before signing a new lease agreement with the new landlord, discuss the situation with them. Some landlords may require a reference from the previous landlord, so keeping the communication open is crucial.
