I believe my software does have a unique patentable aspect to offer, however, my personal research hasn't been very fruitful. I'd like some advice on this and understand what to apply for as well as where to go.
A.Hello Sir,
Software by itself is not patentable in India. However, software can be patented if it is part of an invention that is both inventive and capable of industrial use.
The first step in securing a patent for a software would be to seek the advice of an experienced professional in the field of software patent registration.
To obtain patent registration for software, it is important to establish that the patent registration application does not pertain to only a software but to an invention that is applicable for industrial use.

As you would be aware that patent or copyright ate based on tue novelty amd uniqueness of what you create.
In case that is present in your software then you can go for IPR
