Dowry case Dowry case

I am a lady and filed a dowry case which is genuine against my in laws family. They had demanded for dowry after marriage but have never fulfilled that and it turned out violent. The things given by my parents and family at the time of marriage were without any demand. In the draft I attached that list of all those things as 'dahej ka saamaan' . We had no idea of difference between dahej(dowry) and streedhan. The case is at final stage and again my husband has sent a legal notice through lawyer to my parents that why did they have given dowry when giving and taking dowry is a crime. And asked us to reply within 15 days otherwise they will file a case. What should I do in that case?

A.Dear Madam,
Be informed that the Hon’ble Supreme Court kept at rest the question of giving dowry as a claim and such legal notice is illegal. Under forcible circumstances the parents of girl might have agreed to pay dowry and it is not an offence but taking dowry is an offence.
