Residents association

I have 50k security deposit with the association on account of my house construction. I have completed the construction and cleared the place of construction debris etc. However the association is holding back the deposit due to some flimsy reasons and not come up for discussion as well despite me requesting for inspection and discussion.
I had requested them to adjust the deposit against the maintenance, which is not happening and now they are threatening to send a legal notice on the maintenance due.
Pls advise

In the prevailing situation, if the bylaws of the Association permit such kind of adjustment with a security deposit, then after serving a counter-legal notice to the association, submit a complaint before the Registrar of Cooperative Society or the competent authority under the State Apartment Ownership Act for redressal of your grievance. You can also file a civil suit for recovery of security deposit from the Association.
