My daughter born in uae .we have birth certificate issued by uae government and citizen letter from indian embassy (indian embassy letter same as birth certificate ).
While applying birth certificate we made a mistake by not adding surname ,now we want to add surname kindly suggest what is the procedure to add surname and get new certificate .
(Note:Now we settled in india not in uae )

A.Dear Client,
Being a biological parent you are rightly entitled to add the surname of your newborn baby issued under the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 from the Registrar appointed under the Act and the designated in the office of Municipal Corporation under whose jurisdiction, the baby was born. The procedure for the addition of a surname to your name begins by executing an affidavit before an executive officer and then publishing it in the official gazette followed by newspaper publication in two regional dailies. Thereafter, you can apply to the competent authority to change your name in the documents.
