Water wastage complaint Water wastage complaint

I live in Faridabad, Haryana.

My roof was heavily damaged for years because the first-floor neighbor purposely kept their water tank overflowing for hours. I have dozens of CCTV footage dating back to the year 2021 where their water tank is clearly overflowing.

How do we make complaints about water wastage with the Municipal Corporation of Faridabad or other appropriate body in Haryana, Faridabad? Explain the procedure.

A.Dear Client,

Submit a written complaint along with video evidence to the relevant Municipal Authority regarding your neighbor's negligent and intentional waste of water, highlighting the potential water crisis faced by other residents in the building. Citing the notification issued by the Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) under the Ministry of Jal Shakti in 2020, under Section 5 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, and following the directive of the National Green Tribunal, emphasize that wastage or misuse of potable underground water resources is prohibited. Failure to comply with this notification can result in imprisonment for up to five years, a fine of up to Rs 1 lakh, or both, as per Section 15 of the Act. Additionally, continuous failure or contravention may incur an additional fine of up to Rs 5,000 per day after the initial conviction.

A.Dear Client,
In the given scenario, simply make a written complaint with video clips about the waste of water negligently and intentionally by your neighbor to the concerned Municipal Authority to face a water crisis by other residents of the building. The Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) under the Ministry of Jal Shakti issued a notification in the year 2020 under Section 5 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 following the direction of the National Green Tribunal. The notification states that no person in the country shall waste or misuse potable water resources tapped from underground. “Failure to comply with this notification, in each such incident of failure or contravention, be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to five years or with fine which may extend to Rs 1 lakh or with both, and in case the failure or contravention continues, with additional fine, which may extend to Rs 5,000 for every day during which such failure or contravention continues after the conviction for the first such offense, under Section 15 of the said Act.
