I have taken a Comprehensive Car Insurance Policy from a GENERAL INSURANCE CO through POLICY BAZAR the web aggregator. The payment was made to Policy Bazar, the web aggregator and also received a mail from Policy Bazar stating that Soft Copy of the Policy issued and enclosed from the Insurance Co. whereas, Policy issued was not exactly the Policy but just a quote from that GENERAL INSURANCE CO only. Since then, my ordeal started with Policy Bazar and with Gen Insurance Co. It has been over 8 months the policy is yet to be issued. In the meanwhile, I took up the matter with IRDAI and the status remain same. Then I referred to Insurance Ombudsman but the insurance ombudsman made only the insurance co Vs myself. They excluded the policy bazar totally. What could be the reason for for removing them from the respondent. My complaint was specific to both the policy bazar & the Insurance co.
Now my query is
1) Why the ombudsman not involved the policy bazar as they are the main people through them only i have applied the Car insurance.
2) What is the maximum amount the ombudsman can order compensation (30 Lakhs is their limit).
3) Hope, I can go to consumer court if i am not satisfied with their compensation offered.
Need a detailed response to take up the case further to consumer court subsequently.

A.Hi,
The banking ombudsman could only pass an award up to 20 lakhs, however, you also approach the consumer forum in the adverse case.

A.Dear Sir,
As per my experience Ombudsman always in the good books of corporates and there is no guaranty that you will get justice from that office unless you establish your case 100% prima facie. It is better to approach Consumer Court after case is disposed by Ombudsman.
